Three of the Charlotte area’s most heavily traveled roads have been hit with big problems Wednesday morning.
Perhaps the biggest problem is on the inner loop of Interstate 485 in southeast Mecklenburg County.
An earlier wreck near Providence Road has been cleared, but traffic remains snarled at 8:50 a.m., back toward Matthews.
There also are traffic-slowing problems on inbound East Independence Boulevard and northbound I-77 in south Charlotte.

I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Brawley School Road (Exit 35) down to Gilead Road (Exit 23).
Sam Furr Road at I-77, Huntersville ... Collision; moderate delays.
Albemarle Road inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph from Lawyers Road to Sharon Amity Road.
I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion from earlier collision near Providence Road; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Matthews to the crash scene. From Providence Road to I-77, congestion is slowing traffic to 25-35 mph.
Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion and disabled vehicle near Hawthorne Avenue bridge; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Margaret Wallace Road to uptown.
Johnston Road ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph northbound from the state line to I-485.
Providence Road inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from the Arboretum area to Wendover Road.
I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Carowinds Boulevard up to Clanton Road.
Tyvola Road at South Boulevard ... Collision; minor delays.
Billy Graham Parkway ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph between West Boulevard and I-85.
Steele Creek Road, just north of Westinghouse Boulevard ... Collision; moderate delays.
U.S. 321, Gaston County ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph in each direction between I-85 and Dallas-Cherryville Highway.
Old Mount Holly Road at Rozzelles Ferry Road ... Collision; minor delays.
