Man armed with shotgun robs Salisbury Walgreens

Salisbury police are looking for a man who robbed a Walgreens drugstore Sunday night by pointing a shotgun at the pharmacist and another employee and demanding they give him pills.

Police were called to the store about 6:40 p.m. by a report of an armed robbery. At first, they thought the robber might be inside the store, holding hostages, so they locked down the store and called for reinforcements, police said in a news release. Officers then searched the store and learned that the robber had left before they arrived. No one was injured, but one customer was treated at the scene for breathing problems.

The man entered the store with a shotgun in his hand and immediately went to the pharmacy, jumped over the counter and held the pharmacist and the assistant at gunpoint, police said. He took the pills and then left.

He was described as a white male more than 6 feet tall, 230-240 pounds, and wearing camouflage pants, a gray long-sleeve shirt and a military “boonie”-style hat.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 866-639-5245. Dan Duffey
