A three-alarm fire caused $150,000 damage at a northwest Charlotte business Saturday night, fire officials said.
The blaze broke out about 9:20 p.m. at Cumulus Fibres, in the 1100 block of Tar Heel Road. That is off Hovis Road.
Charlotte fire officials said crews found smoke coming from the single-story building when they arrived. Two additional alarms were sounded, and authorities said they brought the blaze under control in about 50 minutes.
Officials said smoke alarms and the sprinkler system were working, and employees evacuated the plant without incident.
More than 60 firefighters battled the blaze. Authorities said the fire started in a polyester curing oven and spread to surrounding machinery.
