Charlotte-Mecklenburg police on Friday arrested and charged a 32-year-old man in the robbery of a Dunbar Armored Truck employee in the 5400 block of North Tryon Street.
The robbery at 12:15 p.m. put nearby Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School on partial lockdown for 40 minutes as police searched for a suspect.
Deron Mackie was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon after he was interviewed at police headquarters.
Police said a robber approached the armored truck employee, demanded and received money then left the scene.

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department patrol officer saw a man who matched a description of the robber enter nearby woods. The officer immediately requested more police units to establish a perimeter. Police K-9 and helicopter units also responded, and officers requested that Martin Luther King Middle School be placed on lockdown during the search.
The suspect soon came out of the woods and was detained by an officer. Police said the K-9 unit found evidence of the robbery in the woods.
The school lockdown ended at 1 p.m.
