Charlotte man charged with assaulting girlfriend

A Charlotte man is facing charges after police say he assaulted his girlfriend inside her Lincoln County home and forced her to lie to medical officials about her injuries.

Thirty-nine-year-old Christopher Scott Fore was arrested and is in the Lincoln County jail.

Investigators said the incident started when Fore began calling and texting his 41-year-old girlfriend Wednesday, accusing her of having another man at her home. She says she asked him not to come over because she was at home due to a back injury.

When Fore came over, the woman said she told him to leave. She later heard someone break through the back door and found Fore in her home.

That's when he reportedly beat her and dragged her around the home.

The woman told investigators that she was able to escape. She grabbed her Smith and Wesson .38 caliber revolver as she ran into the backyard. Fore reportedly caught her again and beat her after taking the gun away from her.

Investigators say Fore then forced her into a car and drove to his mother’s house in Charlotte. His mother was finally able to persuade Fore to take the woman to the hospital.

He reportedly forced her to tell the hospital staff that she had been “jumped on” by someone in a Walmart parking lot, investigators said.

When he left the hospital Thursday morning, the woman told hospital staff what happened. Fore was later arrested at his mother’s home.

He was charged with one felony count each of breaking and entering, kidnapping with serious bodily harm, assault with serious injury, larceny, and common law robbery.

He’s being held under a $150,000 secured bond. More charges are expected.
