An early morning car crash left one man dead and another seriously injured Sunday.
The fatal accident happened on Independence Boulevard at 2:41 a.m.
Police say Felipe Ogilvie drove his Cadillac Escalade onto the off-ramp from Independence Boulevard to Sixth Street traveling the wrong way.
Several witnesses told police they had to swerve out of the way to avoid being struck by Ogilvie’s vehicle.
Police say Ogilvie’s SUV hit a BMW head-on.
The driver of the BMW, Bronsun Burris, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center for serious injuries.
The passenger in the BMW, Donald Webb Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Ogilvie also was taken to Carolinas Medical Center. He was charged with DWI at the hospital and later charged with felony death by motor vehicle and felony serious injury by motor vehicle. WBTV
