A North Carolina woman was arrested for bigamy after investigators said she was married to three men at the same time.
Tia Carter Chappell, 33, of Old Fort was arrested and charged with one felony count each of bigamy and perjury.
On July 1, Chappell obtained a marriage license from the McDowell County Register of Deeds Office "swearing to officials that it was her first marriage," according to a report from the McDowell County Sheriff's Office.
But, detectives said, an investigation revealed that the new marriage was in fact Chappell's third. They say she had married two men in Cabarrus County, one in September 2000 and the second in September of 2010.

Chappell had allegedly not divorced her first two husbands before remarrying in McDowell in July.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Chappell was arrested on the charges.
Officials have not said if Chappell's husbands knew about one another.
