A man was killed and a female passenger injured early Thursday in a single-vehicle crash in Lincolnton, police said.
The crash was reported shortly after midnight at the end of North Cedar Street, near the Hoke Street intersection on the west side of town, police said. According to authorities, the driver of an SUV apparently lost control of the vehicle, and it went off the road and into a wooded area.
The driver was thrown from the vehicle and killed. The passenger was seriously injured and taken to Carolinas Medical Center.
Police said they are investigating what caused the driver to go off the road. The names of the victims have not been released.
