A tree fell on power lines Saturday evening in Mint Hill, knocking out electricity to nearly 2,000 Duke Energy customers.
Mint Hill police reported the tree fell around 5 p.m. near Matthews-Mint Hill Road (N.C. 51). At 9 p.m., Duke Energy was reporting about 1,600 power outages.
The utility company originally said power would be restored by 8 p.m., but that estimate was pushed back at least twice. At last check, Duke is estimating power will be back on by 9:30 p.m.
