2 suspects charged in string of Gastonia robberies

Gastonia police have arrested two men in connection with a string of three robberies late Monday and early Tuesday, authorities said.

Travis Dequan Sharpe, 24, of Gastonia, and Stephon Miller, 26, of Charlotte, were arrested by detectives Wednesday. Gastonia police said an investigation into the robberies is continuing and more charges and arrests are expected.

The robberies took place in a one-hour span on North Ransom, Street, Robinwood Road and Winget Street. No injuries were reported, but at least one of the crimes involved a home invasion, according to police reports.

Sharpe was charged with three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, three counts of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, and one count of first-degree kidnapping.

Miller was charged with one count each of first-degree burglary and possession of a firearm by a felon.
