Motorists using Interstate 77 either northbound or southbound can expect heavy traffic and congestion Saturday evening within a few miles of the Carowinds exit at the state line.
At 7:30 p.m., motorists reported traffic was moving at a crawl in the right two lanes of southbound I-77, from the I-485 bridge to the Carowinds exit. On northbound I-77, S.C. Department of Transportation cameras showed backups stretching more than a mile.
No collisions are being reported in the area, so it can be assumed that the backups are related to the Scarowinds attraction at the Carowinds theme park.
The park features mazes and Halloween-themed attractions on weekends until Nov. 1.
