Charlotte-Mecklenburg police report three collisions within a 1-mile section of inbound East Independence Boulevard at 10 a.m. Thursday.
The wrecks are on the approach to the John Belk Freeway-Brookshire Freeway split, and they’ve slowed inbound traffic to a crawl.
The collisions are the latest in a long series of wrecks this morning.
Motorists should consider using Monroe Road or Central Avenue as alternate routes for the next 30 to 60 minutes.

W.T. Harris Boulevard near Davis Lake Parkway ... Pedestrian struck near David Lake Parkway; and collision at Hackberry CreekTrail; moderate to heavy congestion.
Sam Furr Road at N.C. 73, Huntersville ... Earlier collision with injuries being cleared; moderate delays.
Central Avenue at Lansdale Drive ... Collision; moderate delays.
Albemarle Road inbound ... Congestion and a wreck at Sharon Amity Road; traffic moving 10-20 mph from Lawyers Road to Sharon Amity Road.
I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Providence Road to I-77.
Independence Boulevard inbound ... Three wrecks on the approach to the John Belk Freeway-Brookshire Freeway split; traffic moving 10-20 mph from Eastway Drive to uptown.
