Cross-dresser accused in bank robbery

Investigators have arrested a man they believe robbed a Lady’s Island, S.C., bank while wearing purple glitter lipstick and women’s clothing in June – one of three men accused of involvement in the heist.

Tijhie Ahtif Moore, 20, of St. Helena Island, S.C., was charged Sept. 18 in Atlanta in the robbery of Regions Bank on Sea Island Parkway and transported Thursday to Beaufort County, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

He joins Ahmad Jasper Holmes, 27, of Grays Hill, S.C., who was arrested Sept. 12 in connection with the June 24 heist. Both are charged with armed robbery and criminal conspiracy.

Investigators are still searching for Mark Joseph Reid, 19, of Windsor, S.C., who faces warrants on the same charges.

On June 24, Moore entered the bank wearing a floral dress, a wig and the glitter lipstick, and presented a note to a teller demanding cash, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Though Moore’s note referenced a weapon, investigators do not believe he was armed, Sgt. Robin McIntosh said.

Investigators initially thought he pedaled off on a bicycle. But the Sheriff’s Office said Friday that Moore ran with an undisclosed amount of cash to Reid’s 1998 Acura Infinity parked nearby.

Moore got into the trunk, and Reid drove away, McIntosh said. Holmes was a passenger in the car, she said.

Investigators have not recovered any of the stolen money.
