Potbellied pig found wandering in Mount Holly, NC

Police in Gaston County are trying to find the owner of a potbellied pig found wandering in a residential neighborhood in Mount Holly.

The pig is “a domestic sort of pig” and was picked up by animal control in the 100 block of Antelope Drive in Mount Holly, said Capt. W.S. Melton of the Gaston County police animal control division.

The pig is female, between 2 and 4 years old, weighs 131 pounds and is 18 inches tall.

Melton said officers believe “this pig is someone’s pet.”

The pig is being housed in the Gaston County animal shelter. If authorities can’t locate an owner by Thursday, the pig will be available for release to a rescue group.

Anyone with information about the pig should call Gaston County police at 704-866-3320.
