A teenage girl was taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in southeast Charlotte. The girl was reportedly riding on the hood of the car before being hit.
The incident happened just after 3 p.m. near the intersection of Barncliff Road and Granby Avenue.
Police confirmed that the 15-year-old girl was riding on the hood of the car. When the driver hit the brakes, the girl slid off the hood and was run over by the vehicle.
The girl was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with an arm injury and a possible broken leg. She is expected to be okay.
The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old James Barrino, was issued citations for an insurance violation, possession of a revoked tag, reckless driving and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
