Pet industry celebrities will host workshops in Charlotte on Saturday

One Picture Saves a Life, a national campaign to change of the image of pet rescue and adoption, will host workshops in Charlotte on Saturday.

A free workshop that is open to the public will feature Seth Castell, award-winning photographer and New York Times best-selling author of “Underwater Dogs” and Jorge Bendersky, a celebrity dog groomer and expert, formerly on Animal Planet’s show “Groomer Has It.”

The workshop is part of a multi-city tour to raise awareness about the impact that good grooming and an engaging intake photo has in helping pets find a home.

According to One Picture Saves a Life, 73 percent of adoptions start online and an animal’s photo is often the best chance it has for being adopted.

The public workshop is from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Charlotte Police and Fire Training Academy located at 1770 Shopton Road. Register at http://onepicturesaves.com/register/#public.

A workshop for shelter employees and volunteers is from 12:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Animal Care and Control, 8315 Byrum Drive. To register, go to http://onepicturesaves.com/register/#guests-volunteers.
