Halloween could get dicey in the North Carolina mountains Friday night as the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for that area.
Heavy snow may affect portions of the mountains Friday night through Saturday, according to the NWS. Very cold air will accompany the system.
The weather watch covers the counties along the Tennessee border and northern Jackson and Buncombe counties.
The NWS said there could be 1 to 3 inches of snow in the valleys and 3 to 6 inches above 3,500 feet. Heavy wet snow could lead to isolated tree and power line damage.
In the Charlotte area, Friday looks to be sunny with some clouds, with a high of 65 degrees and a low of 38. Saturday’s outlook calls for a little rain and temperatures only reaching 50 degrees.
Sunday should be sunny and a little warmer than Saturday.
