Today’s traffic: Wrecks slow inbound Independence

Wrecks on inbound East Independence Boulevard and a collision involving an overturned truck on northbound Interstate 85 are contributing to a large number of traffic troubles this Monday morning across the Charlotte area.

There have been three wrecks this morning on Independence Boulevard. The most recent is near Briar Creek Road, and it is causing slow traffic for inbound motorists at 9:10 a.m.

Earlier collisions – on the ramp to the John Belk Freeway and another wreck near Briar Creek Road – have been cleared.

On I-85, the trouble is near the University City Boulevard exit. A truck is overturned off the right side of the road, and traffic is moving very slowly past the area.

Yet another bad spot is inbound Randolph Road, due to a collision near Colonial Avenue. Traffic is nearly stopped for inbound motorists.

North

I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-20 mph from Brawley School Road (Exit 35) down to Gilead Road (Exit 23).

I-85 northbound near City Boulevard ... Overturned vehicle off the road; heavy delays.

Statesville Avenue and Carmine Street ... Collision; minor delays.

East

Albemarle Road inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph from Lawyers Road to Sharon Amity Road.

Southeast

I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Providence Road to I-77.

Independence Boulevard inbound ... Collision near Briar Creek Road; traffic moving 10-15 mph from Sharon Amity Road to wreck scene.

Randolph Road near Colonial Avenue ... Collision; heavy delays.

Village Lake Drive at Monroe Road ... Collision; minor delays.

South

I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Carowinds Boulevard up to Clanton Road.

West

Sam Wilson Road at I-85 ... Collision; minor delays.

Farnhurst Drive at Nations Ford Road ... Collision; minor delays.
