A woman was seriously injured late Monday night when fire damaged her residence in Cramerton, fire officials said.
The blaze was reported about 11:30 p.m. at a single-story residence on First Street. Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the home when they arrived.
It took a crew of more than two dozen firefighters from four departments to put out the blaze. Crews had to resuscitate the woman, who had suffered smoke inhalation.
The victim was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem in critical condition. Investigators are working to determine a cause of the blaze.
