Thousands of socks, one goal

The community’s holiday spirit started off in a big way Tuesday as volunteers with the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary began stuffing thousands of stockings to be given away during the Salvation Army’s annual Christmas program, Dec. 17-23. This year, the agency expects to help as many as 12,000 children get free toys and stockings from local donors. Volunteers are needed to help with various Salvation Army holiday programs, including ringing bells at red kettles. Details: www.registertoring.org. Mark Price
