Driver will be okay after hitting unoccupied house

No one was seriously injured in a Friday morning traffic wreck that involved an unoccupied house in southwest Charlotte, officials said.

The accident occurred just before 8 a.m. on eastbound Tyvola Road at Londonderry Road, about six blocks from South Boulevard.

The Observer’s news partner WBTV reports that the driver was trying to avoid hitting another vehicle that had pulled out, which caused the driver to go over the curb, through the front yard and into the house.

The driver was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville with minor injuries, according to Medic. The home was unoccupied and is currently for sale.

The wreck briefly closed one lane of eastbound Tyvola, which caused residual traffic snarls. Police have not said whether charges may be pending.
