Motorists traveling on Interstate 77 may have noticed a change to the skyline over Carowinds this week. Workers are using giant cranes to hoist track pieces and supports into place as construction continues on the park’s newest coaster, Fury 325.
Billed as the world’s tallest and fastest giga coaster, Fury 325 will send riders down a 325-foot, 81-degree drop at speeds up to 95 miles per hour. The coaster spans over eight acres with a track length of 6,602 feet that will make it the longest steel roller coaster in North America. Upon completion in spring 2015, Fury 325 will tower over the park’s Dale Earnhardt-themed Intimidator coaster by 93 feet. Todd Sumlin
