Cramerton Town Manager Michael Peoples has been named Gastonia’s new director of enterprise services, effective in January.

In his new job, Peoples will head several of Gastonia’s key areas, including the electric, solid waste, transit, fleet/garage and airport divisions.

Former services Director Paul Jakubczak resigned three months ago to accept a position in Florida.

Peoples has been Cramerton’s town manager for nearly 10 years.

‘Creative, innovative and efficient’

In a release, Gastonia’s Assistant City Manager Flip Bombadier said that as Cramerton’s town manager, Peoples was “creative, innovative and efficient in successfully operating the municipal services and functions of the town.”

Bombadier said Peoples was instrumental in the successful merger and partnership of the Cramerton and Gastonia water and sewer systems into Gastonia’s Two Rivers Utilities.
