Charlotte’s Interfaith Thanksgiving Service is Tuesday

The 39th annual Citywide Interfaith Thanksgiving Service in Charlotte will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at The Park Church, 6029 Beatties Ford Road in northwest Charlotte.

Pastors, choirs and other church members from a number of denominations will participate in the service, which will include a musical prelude at 6:30 p.m.

The service will open with a Hindu Thanksgiving ritual prayer and will include readings from sacred texts of Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist and Sikh traditions. The keynote speakers will be Rabbi Judith Schindler, the Rev. Ophelia Garmon-Brown and the Rev. Christy Snow, talking about “Committed to Love Amidst Paradox.”

Nearly 1,500 people attended last year’s service.

Those attending the service are asked to bring canned goods or make monetary donations to support Loaves and Fishes, Crisis Assistance Ministry and Mecklenburg Ministries.
