A water pipe burst Wednesday afternoon at Carolina Place Mall, sending water into a store below.
But the mall remained open, and officials said only one store was affected.
The Pineville Fire Department reported about 3:30 p.m. that a sprinkler pipe had burst on the second floor of the mall. Fire officials said water flooded into the level below.
The broken pipe was shut off and repaired quickly. Only one store, Forever 21, was affected. Officials closed the store, and a restoration crew arrived about 5 p.m. to begin cleanup. Authorities were not sure when the repairs would be completed.
The incident took place shortly before one of the biggest shopping periods of the year, with most mall stores open extended hours Thursday and Friday for Black Friday sales.
