Power restored after outage in east Charlotte

Power was restored Wednesday evening to more than 4,500 Duke Energy customers affected by an outage in east Charlotte and portions of Mint Hill and Matthews, officials said.

The problem was reported shortly before 5 p.m.

Areas affected included Idlewild Road, from near W.T. Harris Boulevard to near Idlewild Road Park; Lawyers Road, from Albemarle Road to east of Lebanon Road; Margaret Wallace Road, from near Sam Newell Road to Lawyers Road; and W.T. Harris Boulevard, from near Idlewild Road to near Albemarle Road.

Some neighborhoods west of W.T. Harris Boulevard also were in the dark.

Duke crews completed repairs of malfunctioning equipment shortly before 7 p.m.
