Today’s traffic: Congestion slows interstates

Congestion is the biggest problem for motorists in the Charlotte region at 8:10 a.m. Thursday.

Heavy traffic volume means slow travel speeds on both the inner and outer loops of Interstate 485 in south Mecklenburg, on I-77 southbound from Davidson to Huntersville, and on inbound Johnston Road in the Ballantyne area.

An earlier wreck that slowed inbound East Independence Boulevard has been cleared, but traffic remains sluggish.
