Monday traffic: Wrecks affecting motorists across the region

Accidents are impacting commuters all across the metro region this morning.

A hit-and-run wreck was reported about 6:30 a.m. at Toddville Road and Freedom Drive in northwest Charlotte.

Another wreck was reported around 6:45 a.m. in north Charlotte, at Mount Holly Huntersville Road and Reese Boulevard.

Meanwhile, in south Charlotte, an accident was reported around 6:40 a.m. at Interstate 485 and Johnston Road. And in the center city, a disabled vehicle was reported at 7 a.m. at Brookshire Freeway between Graham Street and I-77.

Traffic was building on N.C. 49 in the University City area as well as Billy Graham Parkway around 7:30 a.m. Traffic was particularly heavy on I-485 in south Charlotte, where long-term construction is taking place between Johnston Road and I-77.

Meanwhile, motorists should also be aware of some road closures in the area:

• Eastway Drive between The Plaza and U.S. 29 is closed for bridge work. • North Tryon Street at Mallard Creek Church Road is closed for construction with a detour.

• In Harrisburg, Morehead Road between N.C. 49 and U.S. 29 is closed for construction with a detour.
