Hearing on plan for Statesville truck stop postponed

The city of Statesville postponed a public hearing scheduled for Monday on a proposed Love’s Truck Stop near Interstate 40 in Statesville.

The city announced the delay Wednesday, after opponents of the truck stop appealed a judge’s recent decision and obtained a motion to stay, which is scheduled to be heard by the N.C. Court of Appeals on Jan. 12.

The proposed truck stop, near exit 154, would be similar to Love’s facilities found on major interstates. Plans include parking for trucks and cars, a 24-hour fueling station and tire shop, showers for truck drivers and two restaurants. Dave Vieser
