Untreated wastewater discharged in Charlotte creek

Charlotte officials say more than 5,000 gallons of untreated wastewater was discharged Friday into a stream not far north of uptown.

The discharge was in the 1100 block of North Davidson Street, between East 15th Street and Belmont Avenue. The water went into a stream that feeds into Little Sugar Creek near Alexander Street Park, a short distance north of the Brookshire Freeway.

City officials did not say what caused the discharge, but they said the N.C. Division of Water Resources is investigating the incident.
