Bechtler Museum receives $350K grant from Duke Energy Foundation

The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art announced Wednesday it has received a $350,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation to support several museum initiatives.

This is the largest grant that the Charlotte museum has received from a corporate donor in its five-year history, said Pam Davis, the museum’s director of communications and marketing.

The museum said the three-year grant will support its free admission for military members, its Family Day program and development efforts.

The museum began offering free admission to all active-duty and retired military personnel, National Guard and reserves and their families on Veterans Day last year. The grant will allow the program to continue.

Family Day activities are held three times a year on Saturdays and encourage families to explore the museum collection through special activities and tours.

And $50,000 of the grant will serve as matching funds for people who donate $1,000 or more to the museum through June.

“We are so grateful for Duke Energy’s strong and consistent support since our opening in 2010,” Bechtler President and CEO John Boyer said in a statement.
