A Rock Hill man accused of being under the influence of crack cocaine led a York County Sheriff’s Office deputy on a chase last week, hitting speeds of 100 mph, authorities said.

The deputy tried to stop a motorist for speeding, but the driver tried to evade the deputy, according to a Sheriff’s Office report. The incident started outside the city limits of York about 11 p.m.

Marques Quantez Heath, 31, was charged with possession of crack cocaine third offense, driving under the influence, driving under suspension, failing to stop for a blue light and disregarding a traffic signal, according to police.

The deputy also said the driver pulled onto a side road and jumped out of his car and ran away. The (Rock Hill) Herald
