Maserati stolen from Uptown Cabaret crashes into power pole

A car stolen from a man at the Uptown Cabaret crashed into a utility pole and was left abandoned on West Fourth Street early Monday, police said.

Police responded to an armed robbery at about 2:15 a.m. at the Uptown Cabaret on East Morehead Street, where the victim, 30, reported his burgundy, four-door 2006 Maserati was stolen, according to a Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department report.

The victim told police two suspects took his car by threatening him with a gun in the club’s parking lot, the report states. The report indicates that he did not know the robbers.

The luxury vehicle was later found at 6 a.m. when it crashed into a power pole on the 1300 block of West Fourth and Brevard streets, according to authorities.

The crash closed the road’s outbound lanes, but did not significantly stall traffic. Duke Energy responded to the scene.

Police have not taken anyone in custody and are still investigating.
