A vehicle fire is clogging traffic on northbound Interstate 77 near Clanton Road exit 7.
The fire was reported at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. State highway officials said it could take until 1:30 p.m. to clear the scene.
Earlier Tuesday on I-77 northbound, a wreck backed up traffic at the state line. The wreck happened about 8:30 a.m.
Also Tuesday, both directions of I-85 in Cabarrus County were clogged until 5 a.m., after overnight wrecks backed up traffic.

One of the wrecks involved an overturned tractor-trailer at mile marker 57 near Concord, the state Department of Transportation reported.
The other wreck involved a tractor-trailer smashing into the back of a Chevrolet Blazer as traffic was slowing early Tuesday, WBTV, the Observer’s news partner, reported. The driver of that 18-wheeler was cited for failure to reduce speed, the station reported.
No injuries were reported in either wreck.
At 5:45 a.m., a wreck closed one lane of I-40 eastbound in Morganton, Burke County.
At 6:15 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were at the scene of wrecks on Harris Boulevard at Statesville Road (U.S. 21) and on Monroe Road at Sharon Amity Road.
At 7:30 a.m., a crash was blocking the I-77 southbound ramp onto West Boulevard.
A wreck was slowing traffic on Independence Boulevard west of Albemarle Road.
At 7:45 a.m., wrecks with injuries were reported at East Woodlawn and Park roads and on North Graham Street just south of I-85.
