Northbound Interstate 85 was blocked for more than five hours Wednesday after a tractor-trailer flipped onto its side in Gaston County.
N.C. Highway Patrol troopers asked the public to be on the lookout for a car that likely caused the wreck then sped away.
The wreck happened around 7:40 a.m. near Exit 22, the Cramerton/Lowell exit. The damaged truck was sprawled across all three lanes of traffic, preventing any vehicles from getting by.
Traffic on the southbound side of I-85 also backed up as motorists slowed to gawk.
