The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for Charlotte Douglas International Airport due to Tuesday afternoon thunderstorms.

Flights to Atlanta, New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore and Washington D.C. were delayed.

All major north-eastern airports experienced similar ground stops.

The airport says to check with individual airlines to see the new expected departure and arrival times.
