5 arrested in Union County heroin bust

Five people were arrested without incident at the home of a suspected drug dealer at 8217 Idlewild Road in the Union County town of Hemby Bridge, authorities said Friday.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team executed a search warrant on the residence on Thursday and made the arrests for drug-related charges. Investigators seized heroin with a street value of approximately $15,000, six firearms, marijuana, and needles and drug paraphernalia from the residence.

Arrested were the home’s residents: David Donald Walker, 42; Lila Suzanne Bartholow, 41; Leo Charles Furr III, 33; and Brittany Kay Walker, 21; along with David Haro Avila, 26, of Charlotte. They have all been given a Feb. 17 court date.

According to Union County Sheriff Eddie Cathey, the investigation resulted from complaints of drug activity including a high level of vehicle and foot traffic around the home during all hours of the day. Detectives from the Monroe Police Department assisted with the investigation. Staff Reports
