Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have put out a warrant for a rape suspect who cut off his electronic monitoring device this week and is on the run.
Kenneth Earl Sumpter is wanted for attempted rape, kidnapping, attempted sex offense and interfering with an electronic monitoring device.
Sumpter was court ordered to wear a monitoring device as a condition of his pre-trial release, police said.
On August 12, he cut off the monitor and was last known to be in the area of Equipment Drive, along Interstate 85 in north Charlotte.
