Two arrests have been made after a 26-year-old man was killed and another injured in a shooting in southern Union County Wednesday evening, according to WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.
The victim, identified as David Watson, was shot about 8:30 p.m. on the 3000 block of Reuben Road southwest of Monroe, WBTV reported.
Trenton Lamontez Chambers, 20, and Bentley Winfred Ivey, 18, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death, WBTV reported.
Deputies said Chambers and Ivey drove to a home on Reuben Road for a drug transaction. The pair attempted to rob one of the two men in the home and that’s when shots were fired, police said. Ivey and Chambers ran from the scene but deputies found them at a nearby church, WBTV reported.
Ivey received a gunshot wound and was treated at Carolinas Medical Center-Main.
