Charlotte motorist dies days after head-on wreck with dump truck

A man who sustained serious injuries in an Aug. 18 head-on collision with a dump truck has died, say Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Brian Christopher Bartlett, 39, died late Tuesday of injuries sustained in the crash, which occurred in northwest Charlotte when his vehicle collided with a dump truck on the 10209 block of Mount Holly Road near Pine Island Drive.

Police say Bartlett’s Mitsubishi Galant was traveling east on Mount Gallant just after 3 p.m. when it crossed the double-yellow line and collided with the west bound dump truck. Speed was not a factor, police said.

MEDIC transported Bartlett to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the dump truck, Matthew Scott Prowker, was not injured, officials said.

The crash is under investigation. Witnesses are asked to call Detective Reibold at (704) 336-2678 or Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600.
