A second suspect has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of one of two women shot early Monday on Pineville-Matthews Road in south Charlotte.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged Jerron Rashad Anderson, 24, with the murder of Mary Elaine Tarr. age 20.
A second man, Jalen Marquise Anderson, 23, was charged Monday with murder, attempted murder and firing a gun into occupied property.
Investigators say evidence gathered at the scene led them to Jerron Anderson as a second suspect. He voluntarily came to police headquarters and was interviewed by detectives. He has been charged with murder and attempted murder.
The two women were shot while driving on Pineville-Matthews Road around 3 a.m. Monday. Mary Elaine Tarr, 20, was the driver and she died at the scene. The other woman, a 24-year-old, was taken to a hospital for treatment. Her name has not been released.
WBTV, the Observer’s news partner, reports Jalen Anderson “was in a personal relationship with both female victims.”
