Cabarrus County is full of Halloween celebrations

If cool whispers of fall make you think of Halloween, you aren’t alone. Spooky or silly, get your costume ready, because there are plenty of local family friendly events planned for you.

Jack O’ Lantern Festival: 1-5 p.m. Oct. 24, Frank Liske Park, 4001 Stough Road, Concord. From 3 to 5, there’s free mini-golf, paddleboat rides, pumpkin carving, games and a costume contest with prizes for the best, worst, funniest and most original costumes.

15th Annual Jack O’ Lantern Jaunt Road Race: 1-5 p.m. Oct. 24, Frank Liske Park, 4001 Stough Road, Concord. Put your feet on the street at 4:45 with a fun run/mile walk with medals for all followed at 5:15 by a 5K and an 8K with prizes for overall winners and all age groups for the 5K and 8K.

This year, the staff of Cabarrus County Active Living and Parks Department have dedicated the race to long-time local marathon runner Margaret Hagerty, a local running enthusiast who raced into her 90s and died in August. Individuals, families and groups are welcome. Registration required. For information and to register, visit www.cabarruscounty.us and choose Active Living and Parks. Trunk or Treat: 4-6:30 p.m. Oct. 24, Village Park, 700 W. C St., Kannapolis. The town of Kannapolis invites all ages to dress up and visit Village Park for Trunk or Treat. After sunset, join your friends for the Disney feature film, “Planes: Fire & Rescue.” Events are free.

Treat Fest: 6-8 p.m. Oct. 23, Logan Multi-Purpose Center, 184 Booker St., SW, Concord. Halloween fun and games for kids 2-10.

Halloween Howler: 6-9 p.m. Oct. 24, Academy Recreation Center, 147 Academy Ave. N.W., Concord. Celebrate the season with a night of fun in the gym.

Pumpkin Prowl: 4-6 p.m. Oct. 28, Hartsell Recreation Center, 60 Hartsell School Road, Concord. Kids ages 2-5 and moms and dads can enjoy Halloween-themed games, activities, arts and crafts.

The 3rd Annual Trick or Treat in the Park: 6-9 p.m. Oct. 30, Stallings Road Park, 4050 Stallings Road, Harrisburg. The town of Harrisburg and local businesses invite you to enjoy games, candy, inflatables, face painting, costume contests, prizes, and more. Remember to wear your costume and bring your treat bucket to collect candy. The cost is $3 per child for all you can play (cash only). Rain or shine. Sponsored by Truliant Federal Credit Union.

Annual Candy Crawl in downtown Concord: 3 p.m. Oct. 30. Enjoy trick-or-treating with downtown merchants and family-friendly entertainment on Union Street. Sponsored by the City of Concord and the Concord Downtown Development Corp.

Halloween Fun at Cabarrus County Libraries

Pumpkin Day: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 27, Mt. Pleasant Library, 8556 Cook St., Mt. Pleasant. It’s National Pumpkin Day. Celebrate all things pumpkin with experiments, books, crafts, songs and a pumpkin snack. Ages 5-12.

Spooky Science: 4-5 p.m. Oct. 29, Kannapolis Library Meeting Room. Pretend you’re in a mad scientist’s laboratory and hear some creepy stories, watch some spooky science experiments and make a skeleton craft. Ages 5-12.

Candy Crawl: 3-5 p.m. Oct. 30.

Concord Library

Creepy Campfire Tales: 4:30-5:30 p.m. Oct. 30, Concord Library, Children’s Story Room. Spine-tingling tales around the library campfire. Ages 5-12.
