Embassy Suites Charlotte/Concord Golf Resort & Spa earned the hotel chain's "Make A Difference Hotel of the Year Award" for 2010.

The award was presented to general manager Terry Crawford during an awards ceremony at the annual Embassy Brand Conference in May. The facility was the only property from the brand's portfolio of 200 hotels and resorts to capture the honor.

This is the second straight year the resort won the award, which went to the entire staff for demonstrating the Embassy Suites' "Make A Difference" service culture. The resort's team was honored for making a difference with customers and associates, and for giving back to the local community.

Business partners Jeff Lavoie and Joe Wiseman recently opened Lost & Found Inc., a corporate savings agency that recovers money already spent by midsize to large companies.

Lost & Found helps identify and recover overcharges in past workers' compensation insurance premiums. It assists in reducing the cost of telecom services and helps increase a company's cash flow by speeding the depreciation of deductions of a company's commercial property.

Todd Surratt has opened Race City Waterworks, a touchless automatic carwash, at 111 River Park Road, off N.C. 150.

The carwash is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It recycles 100 percent of its water, and its soaps are biodegradable.

An attendant is on site daily to assist customers and prep wheels and tires before a car enters the carwash.
