Go west for Lake Norman's waterfront spots to dine

During the summer, the Lake Norman area takes on more of a resort atmosphere. We've gathered a list of the area waterfront restaurants where you can often dock your boat and head inside for a meal and drinks, and still enjoy water views. Not a boater? That's OK, all are accessible by land. Ask for a window seat or a patio table and take in the lake beauty.

North Harbor Club

Located at Davidson Landing, the restaurant features live music on Sunday evenings and will host local musician Captain Lou 6-9 p.m. July 4. Outdoor patio. Brunch or dinner on Saturdays and Sundays. Details: www.northharborclub.com.

Lake Norman Cottage

Lake Norman Cottage offers wine, beer, hors d'oeuvres and gelato in addition to a gift shop. They partner with Duffy Electric Boats of Lake Norman to offer wine cruises at $35 per person. On July 3, live music from the band Chasing Pedestrians. "To go" service for boaters in need of medicine or drinks and appetizers. Details: www.lakenormancottage.com.

Midtown Sundries

On July 2-3, Midtown Sundries offers menu and drink specials and live music from the band Blue Monday. "Sunday Burger Madness" on July 4;every burger is $6.49, and karaoke starts at 10 p.m. Details: www.midtownsundries.com.

The Rusty Rudder

The Rusty Rudder is offering a mix of live music and drink specials. The restaurant will have live acoustic tunes at the Tiki Bar on July 2, $2.75 bottles of Corona and Corona Light all weekend, $5 Gatorade shots, and the band Southern Steel takes the stage on July 3. On July 4, all bottles of Keystone Light are $1, and live musicians Scott and Woody perform from 3-8 p.m. Details: www.therustyrudder.net.

Armin's Sunshine Café

Located at Blythe Landing in Cornelius, Armin's Sunshine Café offers deli sandwiches, hot dogs, ice cream, soft drinks, outdoor seating and public restrooms. Visitors should call ahead 704-464-0674 to order sandwiches or carry out. Open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 2-3. Regular summer hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Details: www.arminscatering.com.

The Landing Restaurant

The Landing Restaurant is open year-round restaurant on Lake Norman. There's a game room for the children and Tiki Bar. You can come by boat or land vehicle. Daily drink specials; everyday Miller High Life, $1.50. On Mondays, kids eat free. By water, the restaurant is near Mile Marker 13. Turn toward the boat rack. Head left, and go under the slanting bridge and then head to the cove on the right. Do not go under the railroad tracks, you will have gone too far. Details: www.lakenormanmotel.net.

Vinnie's Sardine & Raw Bar
