Huntersville

The town's July Fourth celebration will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Birkdale Village, off Interstate 77 Exit 25, with bicycle decorating, kids art, a bounce house, a parade and a water fight between the Huntersville and Gilead fire departments. Birkdale Commons Parkway will be closed 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Cornelius

Independence Day festivities are at 6:30 p.m. today on the Town Hall lawn, 21445 Catawba Ave. Bring a blanket or chair and listen to Robin Burke and guest Kary Wall perform '70s and '80s hits. Children's activities will include spin art and rides on a trackless train. www.corneliuspr.org.
