Forest Hill United Methodist Church

Christmas in July: 3-6 p.m. July 25, Forest Hill United Methodist Church, 265 N. Union St., Concord, is celebrating Christmas in July with fun, food, crafts and a reminder that the Christmas spirit lives all year. Come "Soak Up the Son" with Christmas music, bounce house, games, sno-cones, a cupcake walk, Christmas cookie decorating and crafts, storytelling and a dress-up nativity. The Missions Outreach program is focusing on "Sharing the Gift of Christmas All Year Long" by featuring the Festival of Trees. Each tree will be decorated with different "back-to-school" themes to promote donations of supplies for students in need at Coltrane-Webb Elementary School. Advent Lutheran Church

Playhouses for a Good Cause: Advent Lutheran Church, 8840 University City Blvd., Charlotte, is hosting an "Under Construction" Vacation Bible School Aug. 2-6. Children and their leaders will build several playhouses, and one will be raffled off to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte. Raffle tickets are $1 each and can be purchased from the church office. Advent is looking for businesses and individuals who will donate supplies needed to build the playhouses. VBS registrations are being accepted; classes will be offered for children, age 3 through fifth grade. A $10 registration fee should accompany each registration form.
