Cabarrus County Concord

maurices at Carolina Mall, 1480 Concord Parkway N., is sponsoring a school-supplies drive to benefit CVAN battered women's shelter in Concord.

The drive runs through Aug. 8. School supplies for all ages are needed.

Drop off donations during store hours, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12:30-6 p.m. Sundays.

Donors will get a coupon for 20percent off any one regular-priced maurices item; limited to 10 coupons per person.

Iredell County Mooresville

Owner Russell Reagan recently opened Mooresville-based Old Hickory Landscaping, serving the Lake Norman area and nearby communities.

Lake Norman Benefits celebrated the opening of its new location at 181 N. Main St. with a Lake Norman-South Iredell Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting Thursday.

Artists have until Aug. 9 to apply for space at Ahlara International's art fair Oct. 9.

Painters, potters, jewelers, photographers, woodworkers and all other artists are welcome. Ahlara is at 155 Joe Knox Ave., across from Lowe's YMCA.

AdvantaClean recently graduated seven franchise teams from its Huntersville training program.

AdvantaClean specializes in water and mold removal and air duct cleaning in homes and commercial buildings.

The new franchises will open in coming months in Louisville, Ky.; Manchester, N.H.; Columbus, Ohio; Cumming, Ga.; Fishers, Ind.; Milwaukee; and Columbia, S.C.
