Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, noon-5 p.m. Sundays. The museum is closed Mondays, but is open on all federal holiday Mondays.

Activities: Visitors can explore the main exhibit gallery that begins with the 1940s conception of the U.S. Army Parachute Test Platoon and ends with today's airborne and special operations units. Guests can go to the 235-seat Yarborough-Bank Vistascope Theater that allows the viewer to be at the center of the action. The museum is also home to the Yaw Vista-Dome Motion Simulator, which allows visitors to virtually experience what it is like to be part of airborne and special operations.

Cost: Free, but donations appreciated. The movie, "Descending from the Clouds," showing in the Yarborough-Bank Vistascope Theater is $4 a ticket and the Pitch, Roll, and Yaw Vista-Dome Motion Simulator is $5 a ticket. A combination ticket for both is $8. Children under 8 are free when accompanied by a paying adult (limit 2). Tickets are available in the gift shop.

Directions from uptown: Head southeast on West Stonewall Street toward South Tryon Street. Take the first right onto South Tryon Street. Take the second right onto West Morehead Street. Slight right onto the I-277/U.S.-74 E. ramp to I-77/I-85. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Bobcats Arena and merge onto I-277 N./U.S.-74 E. Slight right at U.S.-74 E./Andrew Jackson Highway (signs for N.C. 27 E./Independence). Continue onto I-74 E. Continue onto U.S.-74 E./Andrew Jackson Highway. Turn left at N.C. 144 E./N.C. 1148/Morgan Street. Continue to follow N.C. 144 E. Turn left at U.S.-401 N./Main Street. Continue to follow U.S.-401 N. Continue onto Raeford Road. Turn right at Robeson Street. Destination will be on the right
