Jay M. Robinson High School in Concord is among 30 Spirit Award finalists to win $5,000.

Voting at will determine the 10 winners of the award. Schools can spend the money on computers, text books, band uniforms or athletic equipment.

Bone-ified Dog LLC opened recently at 20901 Torrence Chapel Road in Cornelius, offering dog grooming, dog day spa and day care services and obedience training.

The owners are professional dog trainer Jennifer Wilson-Rivers and Amy Hunt, a veterinary technician, professional dog trainer and award-winning professional dog groomer.

A member of the National Dog Groomers Association, Hunt has competed and worked with some of the best groomers in the industry. She most recently placed second in the poodle division at the Pet Stylist Super Show in Knoxville, Tenn.

Wilson-Rivers began training dogs at age 5 beside her grandfather, a field-trial champion with his coon hounds. She began training professionally about 20 years later, joining a team of professional trainers and training with a world-recognized German shepherd breeder and Schutzen trainer.

Bone-ified Dog LLC will hold a free grand opening celebration 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 18, offering free dog nail trims and dog safety demonstrations for children and adults.

The former Mail Boxes Etc. in Rosedale Shopping Center, off Interstate 77 Exit 23 in Huntersville, has changed its name to Total Office Services after becoming an independent business.

Total Office Services specializes in business services, packing and shipping. It offers the same service it has for 14 years, owner Joe Guerrero said.

Alexander Zachary Jewelers, 175 N. Main St., Mooresville, has opened a complete Pandora Shop inside its store, offering more than 3,000 designs crafted of 14K and 18K solid gold, sterling silver, diamonds and precious gemstones.

DP Contracting and Consulting Inc. held a ribbon-cutting last week for its design mall showroom at the Gibson Mill Depot Antique and Designer Mall.

The showroom includes various home improvement and design concepts, such as an outdoor living space with grill, bar and firepit; a gourmet chef's kitchen with bamboo floors; a heated, semi-frameless shower; and energy-efficient products.

Plans include such weekly events as cooking demonstrations by Johnson & Wales University students and chefs, and seminars on home maintenance, green products and interior design.

Owner Dennis Pless is a Rowan County native who lives in Cabarrus County. His staff has a combined 75 years of construction experience.

Sanctuary of Davidson, a gallery in downtown Davidson specializing in handmade art, has expanded into a new space behind its building.

Classes will include painting, mixed media, pastel work, sewing, jewelry design and fashion design. Sanctuary 101 also will host birthday parties and girls-night-out parties and will rent studio space for artists.
