Maddi's Southern Bistro in Birkdale Village was scheduled to serve its last meal Saturday night.
The restaurant was inside Maddi's Gallery, whose owners, Diane and Madis Sulg, decided to move the gallery back to its original location at 1530 East Blvd. in Charlotte.
Madis Sulg told the Observer he wanted to thank his employees and many loyal customers of the Birkdale location, but that the poor economy forced them to close.
"We were battered by the economic conditions over the last two years," he said.
